Every Tuesday, online menswear Mecca Mr Porter (younger brother of Net A Porter) refreshes the page marked 'What's New' and I am happy.
As the site continues to grow, healthily, since it's launch in 2011, so does the curation of brands. Newly appointed Editor in Chief, John Brodie et al, scour the globe to source the very best in contemporary men's designer clothes, accessories, shoes and grooming products. These span widely from the well-known (Saint Laurent, Nike, Oliver Peoples) to the lesser (AMI, WooYoungMi,Blue Blue Japan). But all designers, flip flops and all, share one thing integrally; a well considered approach to good quality design.
I find Mr Porter visually pleasing and a reliable source of style inspiration. Even if I don't buy anything, the weekly spread of new offerings gives me and anyone interested an edited selection of what's new, and what's noteworthy. Hassle-free.
The weekly Journal offers words of advice from the people you should have an ear out for. Getting gritty with actors, musicians and designers; great. Top five boat shoes or poplin shirts; brilliant. All concise and perfectly nice.
