Sometimes I want to throw all of my possessions away, be clear and free in mind and body and rock around to Chaka Khan.
Other times it's handy to carry a few things with you just in case. Money, passport and keys do have their uses. But however you're feeling, the fact that men are considering bags like never before is in someways brilliant.
Of course there was a time, which does remain, when men would have everything they need in their back pocket. And that's fine. Fiddly accessories can distract from a good outfit and who needs to lug excess luggage around anyway? Well, most people. Quite often. Which is why, when it comes to luggage, the variety is plentiful and the demand is high.
But in the same sense that a modern gent's wardrobe is curated to his liking, with care and thought, as should the one or two accessories he carries be. It's more vital if anything. More concentrated. One bag. Huge responsibility.
And whether a backpack, messenger, briefcase or carry-all takes your fancy, choose wisely; It could be an awful weight on your back if not.
